Mission Statement
The mission of the Sisterhood of Temple Beth Sholom is to help every member and her family to grow Jewishly and to bring together women with a vision of spiritual, social, and intellectual growth to serve, educate, and enrich our Temple family and the greater community.

As members of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism, our Sisterhood is an integral part of Temple Beth Sholom.

Sisterhood provides an organization where all can work together to make Judaism meaningful, dynamic, and vital for every member and their families. Our structure gives each member an opportunity to participate in our projects. Sisterhood contacts have often become the basis for lasting friendships.

Sisterhood serves all generations of our Temple family through educational programs for all ages. We provide financial support to the Paver Religious School for student scholarships and for staff development, subsidies for our youth to attend USY and other Jewish youth activities, and tuition assistance for our youth to attend Camp Ramah. Sisterhood sponsors a monthly meeting for its members and invites all Temple Beth Sholom members to participate in its activities.

Sisterhood helps Temple Beth Sholom by making an annual contribution to the general operating fund, sponsoring many temple activities, managing the Judaica Shop, and providing shiva meals upon request, to families in times of grief. Sisterhood also supports the greater community through annual contributions to local and national relief efforts. Listed below are the four funds that Temple Beth Sholom’s Sisterhood sponsors.

Sarah Green Memorial Fund

This fund was established by Sarah and Julius Green to benefit the religious school and the USY and Kadima youth groups of Temple Beth Sholom. It helps families offset the cost of youth programs. Students have an opportunity to earn “scholar dollars” through activities such as tutoring Paver Religious School students, working in the Temple Office, etc. These scholar dollars can then be redeemed for subsidies (not to exceed the amount of scholar dollars earned) to attend approved youth activities, including conventions, encampment, shabbatons, and summer programs. A committee of educational professionals and a sisterhood representative determine the awards for each year.

Torah Fund

The Torah Fund campaign is Sisterhood's financial commitment to the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Those making a $180 donation to the Torah Fund proudly wear their Benefactor pin. For those making a donation of $50, a special certificate acknowledging your contribution will be received. In addition, our beautiful Torah Fund cards may be purchased at all Sisterhood Meetings and in our Judaica Shop for a donation of $4.00 each.

Paver Religious School Tuition Scholarship Fund

Sisterhood established this fund to aid temple families by assisting with tuition at the Paver Religious School of Temple Beth Sholom. Donations to this fund ensure that no child will ever be turned away from receiving a Jewish education.

Martin & Mildred Paver Teacher Education Fund

Sisterhood established this fund in April, 2007, and allocates $3,000 per year to provide subsidies to the Martin and Mildred Paver Religious School teachers to help them complete required continuing education requirements.

Sisterhood is an organization of women who band together in friendship to further the preservation of traditional Judaism. The Sisterhood of Temple Beth Sholom recognizes that the home, the synagogue, and religious school are necessary to reach these ideals.
